The Costco $100 Mom Survival Kit {+ FREE Mom Hour Registration!}

This post and Costco Mom Hour are sponsored by Costco, and Memphis Moms Blog received compensation and products in exchange for both. However, the opinions expressed in this post are 100% truth, and let's be real, it wasn't difficult to talk about how amazing Coscto is!

We are so excited to hold another Costco Mom Hour event at the Costco location on Hacks Cross (southeast) and the location in Cordova this year! Registration and event information is located at the bottom of this post!

Recently, I set out with a $100 budget and a goal at Costco: Complete the ultimate “Mom’s Survival Kit.” This mission was accomplished beyond my expectations. Sure, I have been in love with Costco for years, even before children. What’s not to love? High quality products, an incredible selection, prices most budgets can afford, and let’s not forget about the food counter. Where else can you get a satisfying lunch for the whole family at prices you usually get in the fast food lane?

The goal was simple: Find $100 worth of Costco’s own brand, Kirkland Signature, and create a cart full of all things that make Mom and her family happy. Here are the results:

  1. Kirkland Signature Wine. I know. How cliché of me! The first stop was the wine aisle. Here’s the deal, though, Tennessee finally approved wine sales in grocery stores, and I haven’t had the chance to check out the Kirkland label yet. Plus, let’s face it, a little glass of vino at the end of the day takes all the stress away. I picked up three bottles because I wanted to try a sampling of varietals. I chose the Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc along with the Mendoza, Argentina Malbec and Chianti Classico Riserva. The prices are just right – all right around $10 or under. They are the perfect wine for casual nights at home and for entertaining.
  2. Kirkland Signature Five Cheese Tortelloni with Parmigiano Reggiano. I was inspired by the wine to think about a dinner pairing and I wanted to keep it family friendly. My kids love pasta which they inherently get from their mother. If I could sustain off of pasta as a meal every day, I would. It’s just a shame that it sticks right to my waistline. Anyway, the cheese tortelloni is the perfect pasta for everyone in the family. My kids like a garlic butter or red sauce, which is simple and great for everyone, too, but the options are endless for a quick weeknight meal. The grown ups in my house love mixing this with a pesto sauce or making a vegetable and tomato saute in olive oil and garlic, with a little parmesan cheese and basil right at the end. The options are endless and very easy for those busy weeknights. Don’t let the large portions intimidate you, either. They last in the refrigerator for quite a while, and they are freezable!
  3. Kirkland Signature Frozen Cheese Pizza. This pizza comes in a four pack. I typically like a lot of toppings on my pizza, but I chose the cheese pizzas because you can add anything you prefer for a quick weeknight meal. We made ours a half and half, one side for the adults and one for the kids. The kids like a pepperoni pizza so we added some of that and left plain cheese, too. On the adult’s half, I added peppers, mushrooms, and an assortment of vegetables. You could easily customize this, or simply leave it plain to fit your family’s tastes. It is super delicious and not at all the typical “cardboard-like” frozen pizza you often come across in the freezer aisle. Everyone in the family approved!
  4. Kirkland Signature Salted Caramel Macadamia Clusters. Run, don’t walk to buy these! I am not a huge sweets fan, but I do love most anything with macadamia nuts and salted caramel. I decided to try this on a whim, as I typically don’t splurge for mommy treats (other than wine) and I am not sorry, at all! After a long day of breaking up fights and dealing with needy children, pair one of these with a glass of Kirkland Signature red wine varietal, and you will forget about your stresses. I will be keeping these on hand from now on.
  5. Kirkland Signature Trail Mix Snacks. This is the perfect on the go snack with something for everyone. Granted, my kids pick out all of the raisins and M&Ms, but that leaves me with some nutritious nuts to snack on for an afternoon pick me up. I love individual packaged snacks for our on-the-go life and these do not disappoint.
  6. Kirkland Signature Organic Chocolate Reduced Fat Milk Cartons. The kids love these, and again, for our busy lives, an on-the-go individual carton of milk saves time. I love the fact that they are organic and reduced fat, too. We don’t drink chocolate milk all of the time, but for a treat or in a time crunch, these do the trick.
  7. Kirkland Signature Ladies’ Active Pant. Last but certainly not least, these pants changed my life! I typically choose a legging or yoga pant for my casual wear on busy days, either around the house or simply running errands, but I decided to give these a shot and I am so happy I did. I love the adjustable elastic waistband and stretchy fabric because, who doesn’t?! Also, these pants are a little more forgiving than the typical “form-fitting” yoga pant or legging. Paired with a T-shirt and tennis shoes, it makes for a great casual outfit. As a bonus, it is made from a moisture wicking fabric, which makes them a great choice for any kind of workout.

The best part about this entire shopping experience is that all of this was purchased for a little over $100, before taxes. That means I was able to purchase dinners, snacks, drinks, treats, and a pair of everyday pants at a price that you could not get anywhere else with the quality and portions that Kirkland Signature offers. This was music to this mama’s ears!
