We are so excited to introduce y’all to THIRTEEN new contributors to the Memphis Moms Collective team! Each mom has her own vibrant personality, and we can’t wait for you all to get to know them both online through upcoming posts and and in person at the events we hope to hold again soon.
Some of these moms may seem familiar to you. Five of them joined our team over the summer, but because of, you know, a global pandemic, we haven’t gotten a chance to properly introduce them yet. The other eight are brand new and we can’t wait to share their writing with you!
We feel humbled, honored, and so excited to have each of these women join our team. Also, a huge thank you to Kellsey McDermott for capturing us so well (seriously, she’s amazing; go check her out)!
Jocelyn moved to Memphis in 2015 with her husband, not knowing a soul. Now, it’s as if she has always lived here! Jocelyn is a first generation Asian-American who was born in California, grew up overseas (Thailand), and moved back to the States in middle school. After leaving home (Maryland) for college in the south (Georgia), Jocelyn hasn’t left the south and her childhood friends claim she has a southern accent. Currently, Jocelyn is a School Social Worker who spends most of her time helping little + big humans navigate how to be healthy humans in this world (and all the highs and lows that come with it). She is also on her own journey of discovering what it means to be an introvert and a mom. Jocelyn and her husband welcomed Charlotte (2018) to their family and are in awe of how much fun it is and how crazy it can be to raise a little human. When she’s not working, Jocelyn can be found in fuzzy socks doing a puzzle, enjoying alone time at a coffee shop, scouring Target’s Dollar Spot for things she definitely doesn’t need, and cheering on the Memphis Grizzlies.
Jennifer was born and raised in Oklahoma City, OK. With a family history in the Memphis, TN area and visiting throughout the years, she hopped on I-40 and decided to make Memphis her home in June 1999. Jennifer currently resides in Olive Branch, MS with her husband, Kellen and their son, Kellen Jr. (June 2020). She currently works from home wearing many hats, including a t-shirt line with her husband, executive director for a nonprofit organization, and also direct sales. Although Jennifer has experience in the corporate world for over 20 years, entrepreneurship has always been her heart and she loves bringing joy to people that doesn’t include sitting behind a desk from 8-5 everyday. Jennifer loves to travel, spend time with family, read, and inspire others. Her dislikes include crowds and waiting in unnecessary long lines…who has time for that?

Supreeya is originally from California but moved to Memphis in 2019 due to her Memphian husband. She was born in India, grew up in England, and moved to the US more than 20 years ago. In retrospect, she has gained much by living in different countries and cities and was excited to call Memphis her home. She lives here with her husband and darling boy. She is an Interventional Cardiologist who strives to provide exemplary patient care that focuses on treating various diseases as well as disease prevention. While she is busy treating patients with heart attacks, decreasing their risk factors for heart disease, and empowering her patients, she also enjoys spending time with her precious boy, husband, and family and friends. Supreeya enjoys writing and has contributed to Huffington post, Thrive Global, as well as to medical platforms. Now that she has finally discovered what a joy motherhood is, she plans on basking in it completely. She can’t wait to continue exploring motherhood and put her thoughts to paper.

Colleen is new to Memphis (February 2020), but has fallen in love with the area already. She has been married to her husband Ryan since 2015 and they have 2 children; Addison (2016) and Orin (2018). They also have 3 dogs and a Crested Gecko. Colleen was born and raised in Massachusetts, went to college in Florida (go CANES!), and lived in New Mexico before her husband’s job brought the family to Tennessee. She is so excited to be living somewhere green again; the desert was not her thing! Before she had kids Colleen worked in veterinary medicine. She became a stay-at-home mom after the birth of her first child and started a dog training business shortly after, focusing on family dogs. Colleen runs on way too much black coffee, loves a good book, baking, and driving fast cars.
