Go Vols! I am a part-time working wife and mom who lives in Collierville. Born and raised in Memphis, I swore that I would never live in Memphis after college. Never say never! Ironically, my husband’s job brought us back to Memphis and I haven’t looked back since! My husband, Scott, and I met at the University of Tennessee. After dating for three years, we got married in 2005. As University of Tennessee graduates, we have ingrained the love of all things orange in our kids. Our entire family wears orange every Friday and sings Rocky Top at least once a day. Going to another SEC school is not an option in this family!

After two years of trying to get pregnant, God blessed us with Jack in 2010. He is all boy – playing any sport that involves a ball and running everywhere. He is cautious, smart, and full of energy. He has a tender heart – a virtue that we pray will serve him well as he grows up. God surprised us with our second blessing, Julianne, in 2011. She is spunky, friendly, and enjoys life to the fullest. She smiles all day long, while doubling the girl drama in the house at the same time. She is my sister – reborn – as my child! Having two kids 19 months apart was a challenge in the beginning – it still is! Each stage and phase comes with different issues – but watching their friendship grow has been worth every second. A yellow lab, named Abbie, completes our family.

Graduating with a Masters in Early Childhood Education, I taught 1st and 2nd grade at a college laboratory school for three years. In 2008, I changed jobs and began work at a private school in East Memphis as the Director of Curriculum. Researching age-appropriate and challenging curriculum programs to bring to the school is my passion. I am that “nerd” who enjoys attending conferences and learning all about new math, science, and language arts programs. Currently, I am diving into the world of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) to further develop this initiative at the school. The best part about my job is going to school with my kids. Seeing them on the playground or in their classrooms makes my day. I truly have the best of both worlds – working at a school I love and doing a job I love, while being with the kids I love each day.

I am a type-A planner. As the oldest of three siblings, I blame my birth order on this trait. Organization is a must for me – both in my professional and family life. I dislike clutter with a passion (even though there is always mail accumulating on the kitchen counter). I hate odd numbers, onions, and people who drive slowly in the left lane. I can’t iron or sew – two skills I desperately want to learn how to do. In my spare time, you can find me at Jazzercise (best workout ever) or Target (spending too much money). On Saturdays, I am always cheering on the Vols and making corn dip for the big game. I love pedicures, Matilda Jane clothes, the beach, and spending time with my family and friends (as long as it doesn’t involve camping or lawn work).

I began blogging in 2009 as a way to document our life. These days, the blog has turned into pregnancy journals, children’s baby books, and our family scrapbook.

I would love for you to pop in and read more about my family and me! You can find me at The Daily Adventures of Our VOLunteer Family.
